If you are flying to Romania, there are a few ways to arrive to Brasov. One of them is taking a direct shuttle that connects Otopeni Airport and the city of Brasov. One way cost 70-80 lei/person

Traveling by train

Brasov main train station is Gara Brasov with international trains arriving from Sofia, Chisinau, Budapest, Vienna, Belgrade, Moscow. Check international schedule and fares here.

Traveling by bus

Coach Station no. 1

The main Bus station in Brasov is right next to the train station and it’s called Transbus Gara CFR. Check schedule and fares here.

Coach Station no. 2

The second one is called Bartolomeu Bus Station, next to another smaller train station (Bartolomeu Train Station). Check schedule and fares here.

Coach Station no. 3

The third one is called Autogara 3 Brasov and is located on Hărmanului street no 47A. Check schedule and fares here.

For the transit between the stations you can use bus number 23B, that connects all the bus terminals in Brasov :

  • Autogara 3
  • the main bus station and train station – at the Bd. Garii station
  • the Bartolomeu Bus station at – Stadionul Tineretului station

For the transit between the Main Station and the Bartolomeu station you can take also bus number 23.

 

 

Getting downtown, to the Old Town’s Centre

The easiest and safest way is to take a bus.

The buses from the Main Train and Coach stations that take you to the Old Town’s Centre are numbers:

  • 4: that is taking you to the main Local Bus Terminal (Livada Postei) at the entrance in the old town.
  • 51 or 52 that are taking you more up, in the Schei neighborhood, passing the medieval part of the city.

You can also take a taxi, but pay attention at the price on the door and on the machine inside the taxi. The normal price varies between 1.39-1.79 lei/km and 13.9-1.79lei/h for waiting. Ussualy there is no special price for night time. To get downtown from the train station should cost around 10 lei.

Getting around inside Brasov

During your stay in Brasov for transportation you can choose the public transport, take a taxi or, depending on your travel plans, renting a car might work better for you. Here are some helpful detaills.

Program:       Working days  5:30 -23:30;

Holidays and Weekends  6:30 -22:30

Prices: one ticket is 5 lei; one day pass is 12 lei and a ticket to the ski resort Poiana Brasov is 6 lei.

You can buy tickets at every ticket booth in stations or at ticket machines. On board you can use the 24Pay app from your phone.You have to validate the ticket when entering the bus. It will be valid for another 50 minutes on any bus line in the city, except the one that goes to Poiana Brasov (bus number 20).

The fine is minimum 60 lei (equiv. 24 individual tickets) so go safe and buy a ticket.

There are no night buses in Brasov.

 

Visiting the surroundings

Going to Bran/ Rasnov

By bus

From the Local Bus Terminal (Livada Postei) in the Old Town’s Centre, take bus number 12 and get down at the seventh stop, at Autogara 2. The coach that goes to Bran leaves from Autogara 2 (Coach station no. 2) and it runs hourly. A ticket costs around 5 lei and depending on the time of the day there is bus every half an hour or every hour. Check schedule and fares here. By taxi

Taxi usualy costs 1.39-1.79ron/km, just be careful to choose one that has the price printed and make sure that the meter is on. To get downtown from the train station should cost around 10 lei, also a trip from the city center to the bus station for Bran has almost the same price. Here are some options and phone numbers.
